6/05/2016

Are you interested in starting, changing or upgrading your career? Or seeking to explore tertiary studies, training and career options? Then you need to make your way to the 2016 Redlands Courses & Careers Expo. The Expo is the ideal event for all senior school students, parents, mature age and prospective post-graduate students as well as career seekers. Come and speak with over 40 of the State’s leading tertiary, VET and training educators, all under one roof. You will get valuable information on course entry pre-requisites, flexible learning options, course payment plans and career progression pathways.

The event is free of charge to all visitors.

Cleveland Showgrounds, Long Street, is the venue for the 2016 Redlands Courses & Careers Expo on Thursday 26 May from 9:00am – 4:30pm. This year the Expo is supported by Cleveland District SHS, Redland City Council, Redland Chamber of Commerce, Tafe Qld and the Australian Industry Trade College. There will be over 45 exhibitors representing all of the major Universities and TAFE institutes as well as representatives from apprenticeship networks, private education colleges and industry groups as well as Defence Force Recruiting. There will be representatives from a range of industries such as construction, manufacturing, sport and fitness, beauty, childcare, music, digital media, hospitality, and many more ready to advise students, parents and visitors of future career options.

Exhibitors will hold seminar sessions for visitors.  These sessions will run every 40 minutes commencing at 9:30am through until 4:00pm.

This year we will also have very practical, hands-on trade demonstrations for students to experience what it’s like to work in the construction trades.  Come and try your hand at electrical, construction, plumbing engineering and automotive with Tafe SkillsTech and Worldskills.

Makita Power Tools will be here with their van so come and try out some of their tools.

There will be health professionals available with demonstrations and activities in CPR and a visiting ambulance.

Students in Years 9 – 12 will have the opportunity to attend the Expo with their teachers through the day. Throughout the day, parents and the general public are also able to attend. The Courses and Careers Expo has become an important event in the school calendar and is a good source of information for students preparing for subject selection or deciding on their pathway for future study and employment.
