CDSHS Japanese sister school

"Kani Technical High School ties up an agreement with an Australian high school to become sister schools"

Kani Technical High School of Nakaedo, Kani city and Cleveland District State High School of Queensland, Australia signed a sister school agreement on September 30th 2013. Video classes that they started last year will be held more often and they are planning on study trips and student exchanges in the future. They are making full use of this opportunity for language education and environmental study for both schools.

"Principals from both school and others visiting Japan attended the ceremony"

Cleveland District State High School Principal, Paul Bancroft, Deputy Principals, three students and the Mayor of Redland city travelled to Japan to participate in the signing ceremony. The speech of the president of the Kani Technical High School student council, Uemoto Seidi Edward, said "I'm expecting that we can exchange cultures and values." Kyle Ledger from Cleveland high school said "We are happy to meet everyone. Thank you for welcoming us today" in Japanese and received much applause.

Next the two Principals exchanged gifts. With a paper lantern in the shape of a globe from Principal Chihiro Hayashi and a memorial national flag and a shield from Principal Bancroft. Principal Hayashi said "We are glad that we have arranged this on the year of our schools 50th anniversary of its founding."  Principal Bancroft said "We would like to share our experiences, languages, and culture with each other."

After the ceremony students from Kani Technical High School taught the Cleveland students how to make a special light which they put letters in. Third year student Yuuki Yamano said "It's difficult to communicate because of different languages, but it's a good opportunity. I hope they got a chance to know how interesting the technical high school is including how to use a soldering iron."
