BYOD News

2/02/2015

Thank you to the parents who informed us they were experiencing difficulties installing the free Microsoft Office on their student laptops.  The system requires students to have a authenticated MIS ID login and password.

Department of Education has now transferred the student identifications from the primary to the secondary school. This has allowed us to now allocate Year 7 students with a temporary password.   The next step in the downloading of Microsoft Office Suite requires the validation of the MIS ID username and password by having each student log onto a desktop machine here at school. We have organised with Year 7 teachers a time to do this to ensure that BYOD laptops are ready for week 3.

After your student has validated their identification at school they should be able to use their MIS username and password to download the software. After installation of Microsoft Office you will need to register the software.  Simply run one of the software options – PowerPoint, Word, etc.  – enter your student’s email address to authorise the installation.  The “Not Registered” alert in the app should disappear.

The BYOD program is new to 2015 and any feedback on the success would be very appreciated.  In fact, Cleveland District SHS are one of few schools who will be ready to commence this project in week 3. As you may be aware the instructions sheets are located on the school web site - https://clevdistshs.eq.edu.au/Cocurricular/Computerandinternet/Pages/BYOD---Bring-Your-Own-Device.aspx
