Meet some of our current International Students
Jun - China Yr 11 - 2006
It is excellent studying at CDSHS. The teachers are all very friendly and always help me about the study so that I can catch up. Also I made a lot of Australian friends, they are all very friendly. I always play basketball and soccer at lunch time. I feel very relaxed at CDSHS.
My homestay is a very wonderful family, they are all Australian, they chat with me all the time and it can help my English and I learn some Australian Identity from them.
Every time after dinner I chat with my homestay family, this is very good.
Rodrigo – Brazil Year 11 Semester 1 & 2 - 2006
My stay at Cleveland High School was really good, the students and especially the staff are really welcoming and helpful. In the first 3 or 4 months I had difficulties with the language but the teachers are very understanding and they helped me. Any other problems I had I went to talk to Mrs Laing (Int Student Co-ordinator) or Mrs Holzigal (Homestay Co-ordinator) who helped me solve them, they are the best.
My homestay was really good, they taught me Australian slang and habits. This was good as it is one of the reasons I came to Australia. They always asked me what I like and what I didn’t like. I had a few household chores like washing the dishes but it is really easy and didn’t take long.
I had so many good experiences it is hard to say the best one.
Long – China Year 11 – 2006
It is lovely to stay at CDSHS. At school I made lots of friends, they are all friendly. Teachers are all very helpful and friendly.
My homestay are very helpful and very kind. They like me as a member of their family. I love them very much.
Margaret - China Year 11 – 2006
My stay at CDSHS was an excellent experience. Before I cam to Australia I thought that Australian students have less pressure than us, actually Chinese Education system is quite different from Australian Education system, we never had assignments in China but we had a lot of tests. However in Australia we have many assignments and tests and I think I gained a lot from school and my English has improved a lot.
My homestay is a very English family. They are very kind and clean, they treat me as their own family member. They took me to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast and it was very good that every weekend they would take me somewhere to have fun. They helped my English. I love my homestay family.
I had a lot of fun. My English has improved a lot.
Anne – Germany Semester 1, 2006
First of all thank you for choosing this wonderful homestay family for me I had the best time with them.
It was a wonderful experience to dive the Great Barrier Reef and to glide over the rainforest. I really enjoyed Cairns, thank you so much again for doing that for Lena and me.
Despite a few difficulties I had at the start everything turned out just right and I made good friends.
Lena – Germany Semester 1, 2006
Robyn and Jan thank you for your support and help over the past 5 months and especially for the lovely trip to Cairns, I really enjoyed it and I know that not everyone would have done that for us, so thank you so much.
