Cleveland District State High School offers a full range of Performing Arts subjects including Music, Music in Practice, Music Extension, Speech and Drama, Drama, Theatre-in Action, Film and Television and Dance.

Music

Cleveland District State High School has one of the most active and successful music programs in Queensland. The program provides students with ensemble experience through a range of bands and ensembles including – three concert bands, three jazz bands, a string orchestra, full symphony orchestra, choir, percussion ensemble and various small ensembles.

Students are given the opportunity to become involved in the Instrumental Music Program (woodwind, brass, percussion and strings) and/or the Contemporary Music Program (vocal, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, music theory and composition). Drama

Drama provides students with the opportunity to explore their own identity and to communicate ideas, concepts and feelings. Through drama, students learn social skills in working and cooperating with others. In addition to forming their own dramas, students present, analyse and evaluate the work of others.

Performing Arts Complex

Our new state of the art Performing Arts Complex provides Music and Drama facilities and performance spaces. The complex also includes numerous practice rooms, instrumental teaching spaces, a recording studio as well as a music technology suite.

Dance

Dance provides students with the opportunity to choreograph, perform and appreciate dance while learning about themselves, others and their cultural background within a safe and enjoyable environment.

Film and Television

Film and Television gives students the opportunity to examine programs and films and become more receptive to the messages in the media. Students explore the organisations and technologies that produce and distribute film and the way that audiences respond to the media.

Media Centre
Our new Media Centre provides Film and Video production facilities including six digital editing suites with industry standard software.
