Cleveland Girls Cruise to Minor Premiership in GBS
Being undefeated is a good way to go into the finals this comng weekend.

Our Cleveland State High Senior touch football girls have swept all before them in the preliminary matches. With an emphatic win over Macgregor SHS our girls are solely focussed on the prize of GBS champions.

Not to be outdone, our senior girl’s basketball team went undefeated as well, but with one drawn match and a poorer ‘for and against’ record the girls finished in second place to Kenmore. GBS Coordinator Richard James said the girls are ready for them this time with Cleveland fielding a full strength team, something that eluded them when they first met.

Middle boys and girls Touch came down to the wire. The boys needed a good win last week to ensure the opportunity to play in the finals because they had a bye this week. The boys left nothing to chance and are rewarded by making the finals to play the highly fancied Albany Creek SHS, who defeated them narrowly in their previous encounter. The girls who were behind on the ‘for and against’ to Albany Creek and Wynnum needed a big win over Macgregor. The girls went so close, winning the game easily but other results didn’t quite go their way. Great season girls, we look forward to big things in the future.
This week’s finals at Wynnum North see three Cleveland teams playing:
Middle boys touch vs Albany Creek at 8.30
Senior Girls touch vs Wynnum North at 8.30
Senior Girls Basketball vs Kenmore at 9.40
Good luck to all our teams and thanks to all players and coaches for a great season.
