International Accreditation is available to independent and state schools in Australia through a partnership between the Council of International Schools and the Council of Internationally Accredited Schools (Australia), currently administered by “Cumburri” International Education Consultants. In 2005, Cleveland District state High School was invited to enter the process of international accreditation by Education Queensland. The process involved a preliminary visit in May 2006, when official candidacy was granted by the Council of International Schools. Subsequent to this visit, the school community embarked on a rigorous process of review, culminating in an Accreditation Team Visit in October 2006. International Accreditation was awarded in November 2006. In reaching its positive decision, CIS took into account the quality of the school’s self-study and the many commendations contained in the Visiting Team Report. Examples commendations were: • The school community for crafting a comprehensive Philosophy and Objectives appropriate to the students served and their educational goals. • The Middle School teachers for their commitment and hard work in offering a comprehensive elective and co-curricular program for the students. In particular, the school and its staff are commended for the vision and development of the Bayside Soccer Academy Program, the Agriculture Farm and the Performing Arts Program. • The school and staff for the development of the strong liaison with schools in the cluster that feed into CDSHS entry. • The Senior School on its innovative Options Program provided to Years 11 and 12 on Mondays. • The School Council, the P&C and the Principal for their outstanding working relationship. • The Administration and Staff for the positive, collegial, working atmosphere. • The Student Support Services team for the range and breadth of the services it provides to students. • The school for developing an outstanding Performing Arts facility. • The school for encouraging extensive use of the facilities by the local community. • The School Staff for their dedication and commitment to extensive co-curricula and curricula programs. • The quality and range of the Performing Arts Program. Achieving International Accreditation is a great achievement by the Cleveland High community. More importantly, we are demonstrating our commitment to continuous school improvement and the pursuit of excellence. |
