Mixed Cleveland GBS results against Kenmore PDF Print E-mail

Mixed Cleveland GBS results against Kenmore

Cleveland High had mixed results against Kenmore in Round 5 GBS sport.  Volleyball boy’s teams continued their dominant form with the seniors proving too consistent for their opponents winning 3-1despite a narrow loss in the first set. Corey Stubbs and Luke Atkins were Cleveland’s best on field

Keiran Edmunds and Brad Sheppard led the way for the junior boys proving too strong in a gruelling 5 set match to win 3-2. Despite losing tight first set, Cleveland were too consistent overall maintaining their position as finals favourite.

Open girl’s netball continue to improve despite losing to a much taller and physical Kenmore side. Jacqui Lilly-Howe defended well while Emma McMullen persevered in attack. Chloe Ward worked hard to force a number of turnovers.

Open Girls soccer remain undefeated winning 4-1 after a slow start in which Cleveland controlled possession without creating a clear scoring chance. Tyler Benfer and Megan Fairbairn were Cleveland’s best in another very good team effort.

Middle School Girls dominated throughout the game without creating a clear scoring chance. Kenmore made the most of their chances to win 2-0. Nadine and Danielle Stanley had strong defensive games for Cleveland. The team’s final hopes will now depend on other results.

Open boy’s soccer were unlucky to lose 1-0 to a late goal following a defensive lapse which gifted Kenmore a goal. Stephen Ardouin and Billy O’Conner worked hard in the centre of the park to consistently put their team in a strong attacking position.

Round 6 against Wynnum North at home will be the last opportunity for Cleveland teams to press their final claims.
