This week, the third week of GBS competition, saw Cleveland District State High School pitted against Albany Creek.
Strong wins to the Senior Girls Touch Football and Basketball teams saw Cleveland off to a flying start overcoming their opposition in a tough away from home round. The Open Girls Basketball had a resounding 33-18 win. Last week’s after the buzzer winner, Emily Gilnick, was lead scorer this week. Other notable performers included Jenny Marriott and Kirsty McMaster.
The match of the day though was the Senior Girls Touch Football where Cleveland outclassed the opposition to finish 10 points in front with a score of 11 – 1. Deni Sims had an outstanding game scoring four of the tries. These tries were set up with some excellent middle play by Brittany Turnbull and Natalie Soldatenko. Caitlin Harris’ solo effort was the play of the match.
For the other teams, it was a tough away round with some very close scores but unfortunately no other teams were able to add a win to their totals.
The home ground advantage will hopefully back into play next week when we host Kenmore. |
