Cleveland Boys Volleyball
on track for GBS title
Cleveland high Boys volleyball confirmed their early favouritism for the Greater Brisbane Schools title with resounding 3-0 victories for both teams against Ferny Grove.
Middle School boys won 3-0 with strong serving from Braden Asujamaa and steady court play from the rest of the team with Max Cubby one of Cleveland’s best. Big hitting from Luke Atkins and consistent setting from Damien Commadeur helped the senior boys to another 3-0 victory. Able support from Neil Henderson completed a dominant display.
Middle School girl’s soccer maintained their unbeaten run with a hard fought 1-0 win. Cleveland were dominant throughout although they seemed unable to convert a number of chances before Jessie Baldwin scored from a Jaimie Lee free kick. Keana Russell and Nadine Magee defended strongly throughout in hot conditions that tested both teams.
Open girl’s soccer seemed to have the game safely in their possession, following a first half strike by Kirsty McMaster, until a controversial late penalty gave Ferny Grove a 1-1 draw. Caitlin Harris and Coby Imber were solid in defence.
After a slow start the open boy’s soccer played some very good football and were unlucky to go down 4-2 in a hard fought game.
The open girls Netball continued to work hard throughout despite s being outplayed by a strong Ferny Grove team.
