Mixed fortunes for Cleveland in Round 3 of GBS Sport. PDF Print E-mail
This weeks round of GBS Sport saw Cleveland away at Albany Creek with results being shared between the schools.
In Soccer, the Open Girls gave their opposition a lesson their storming 11:0 win. Showing greater ball control and good combinations in attack, all players kept Albany Ck on the defensive and shared the scoring. The Junior Girls battled hard after taking the lead early in their match only to concede a goal late in the game. They then fought hard against spirited attack to hold out for the draw. Excellent defence came from Karlee Patchett and Jessie Baldwin.
The under strength Open Boys team were unlucky to go down 2:4.in a gallant effort. They kept possession well but couldn’t find a way to find the equalisers in the end. The Junior Boys kept their sheet clean with a strong 3:0 win. A cracking opening goal from Steve Ardouin set the scene and the boys showed good discipline in their good win.

Both Netball teams again went down in tough games. The seniors came up against a slick offence and played catch up the whole game. Bree Bolton was a constant threat in offence. The juniors also struggled to convert their opportunities but showed they will be better as they gain experience. Mikaela Wynne had a fine game.

The Junior Boys Volleyball again fell in a fifth set cliff-hanger but were unlucky to not get the win. In an exciting game, the boys mixed great play with some errors and only went down after holding 2 match point, Neil Henderson served well and scored some big spikes. The Open Boys handed out a 3:0 belting to the opposition with the power spiking Of Lachy Mann, Luke Atkins and Nick Edmunds proving too hot to handle.

Next week sees a bye due to the Ekka so the next game is at home against Ferny Grove on Saturday August 23.
