Cleveland High opens well in Winter GBS PDF Print E-mail
Cleveland High began the winter season of GBS Sport well before splitting the points overall with Macgregor High on Saturday.

In the Girls matches , the Senior Girls Soccer team dominated all over the field to romp away to a 12 : 0 win .Captain Kirsty McMaster led the way amongst strong attacking play and excellent defence in an outstanding team effort. The Junior Girls Soccer almost matched the Seniors with their 7 : 0 win in an excellent first outing. Dannielle Stanley and Coby Imber were a class above the rest in a midfield that controlled play throughout, while Jenny Gonzales and Jess Cook continually threatened the goal front in attack.
In the Netball games, both teams went down to opposition that were more organised and efficient at converting their possession into goals. Jacqueline Lilly-Howe led by example by anchoring the team defence at Goal Keeper in the Junior match while Kyiah Jones played strongly in controlling possession through Wing Attack for the Seniors.

In Boys matches, the Junior boys Soccer overpowered the opposition with a strong team effort. Steve Ardouin dominated around the field and scored three times in the teams 7 : 0 win. The Senior boys struggled to contain the opposition attacks and will need to tighten their defence after they went down by 3 goals
In Volleyball the Junior Boys lost a closely contested 5 set match after twice being down a set. Blake Singleton played consistently while “rookies” Kieran Edmunds and Bradley Shepherd showed promise in a good team performance. The Senior boys match has been rescheduled due to them competing in the State Schools Championships.

Next weeks matches are away at Albany Creek.
