Cleveland High Takes Ownership of Met-East Surfing PDF Print E-mail

Students at Cleveland District SHS took out the top three placings in each age group at the Met-East Surfing trial at Stradbroke Island on Friday the 7th of March.

On Friday the 7th of March students from Cleveland District State High School competed in the Metropolitan East Surfing trials on North Stradbroke Island. The students performed exceptionally well coming first second and third in all boys and girls age groups. The results were as follows:

Open Boys

1st Tim MacDonald

2nd Jack Miliken

3rd Logan Specht

Junior Boys

1st Nathan Specht

2nd Dion Stevenson

3rd Calum Miliken

4th Kurt Phillips

Open Girls

1st Clasfe Goebel

2nd Josie Kissick

3rd Ella Durbridge- Madden

These students will all compete in the state titles in May at Stradbroke Island. Due to their outstanding results the students will have the opportunity to compete in the Mark Richards Shield at the state titles which is a team’s event to find the best surfing school in the state.

 

Tim McDonald also competed in the Australian Titles last year in Victor harbour, South Australia, finishing 5th in the teams event. Most recently Tim won the Rip Curl Grom search on the Gold Coast which resulted in him picking up a Quicksilver sponsorship deal. Tim will travel to Bells Beach on the 14th of March to compete in the Australian Rip Curl Grom Search featuring the some of the best surfers in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.
