Greater Brisbane Schools is an elite sporting competition for Six State High Schools in the greater Brisbane area. Each school has a strong sporting history. Starting in 2002 with year 8 students, the competition is now in its 8th year. To reflect the competitions goal of Sporting Excellence a new format of competition was devised for 2008, with year 8 & 9 students competing in a middle school team and year 10, 11 & 12 students competing in a senior school team. This new format will strengthen teams and make for a more competitive and exciting season.

GBS is for both the Gifted and Talented sportsmen and sportswomen and also for those who desire to participate in a quality competition with social and fitness benefits and have desire to be extended through regular competition against other top athletes in their field.
